MealLogger App Reviews

Love it!

I love this app! Started using it 1.5 months ago and I dragged a couple of friends for accountability :-) I lost 12 pounds. Sure, I worked hard BUT if someone is going to see everything I eat... Well they did it for me! I wanted to eat better ;-) plus, I hate counting calories! I eat everything, watch my portions, take pictures, and I am held accountable. Thank you MealLogger, didnt know Ive been waiting for something like this - but looks like I did! Brilliant idea!

No privacy options.

This app has some unique features and a lot of potential -- but there is NO attention to privacy control. At all. The food tracking system is great. It uses photos and "servings": you mark how many servings of grains, vegetables, etc. are in your meal. You can create as many entries as you want for any meal type, so if you eat 3 or 4 snacks a day? No problem, theyll each be a separate photo post. And theres no emphasis on calories, which is fantastic (though the info is there if you do want it). But theres not a word of transparency about data sharing! Each food entry looks exactly like a social media post, with likes and comments ... and absolutely no indication of where its going or who can see it. I would have been satisfied with a blanket "Opt out of all sharing" toggle, under Settings. At least I could still use the food logging and nutrition parts of the app. But there isnt even that. If you join a Group, other group members can definitely see your meal posts. But if you change your mind, there is NO apparent way to leave a group. Not on the group page, or under account settings ... within the app OR on the website. And you cant just hide your posts, either. This could be a really simple, helpful, usable food tracker -- as soon as the devs address its huge neglect of privacy. Other than that, there are a few general changes that would be nice: More options on custom nutrition plans. Let us have maximum servings of a thing, not just minimum servings. And "X servings of (multiple food groups)," so I can have, for instance, fish OR meat OR dairy and still meet my targets. Water measurements: ideally custom glass sizes, or at least being able to add "X number of oz/ml" throughout the day.

Daily, weekly, monthly summary of food groups? Half portions?

Easy to use. I am not terribly interested in photographing every bite of food, but I am interested in logging the food groups I have eaten. It would be really useful if this app provided a daily summary of how many servings of all the food groups Ive eaten, and even weekly and monthly averages and trends. Also, if it allowed half servings of all the food groups instead of just some of them (even allowing manual entry of # of servings in addition to +/- entry).

Great app,

This is a great app if you take the time to use it & if you pay for the subscription to work with a nutritionist. We all need help in what to eat when. I have been using this app everyday for ~2 months & has helped to make s big difference in my lifestyle choices when it comes to nutrition. It would be perfect if you could see your nutritionist comments on your phone without having to go onto the computer but maybe that is soon to come. Great app!!!

Its a great way for feedback.....

I am using this with my nutritionist now. She is testing it. I like the quickness of being able to snap a photo. I do not like having to log onto a separate site to view the feedback. I have also already have had to reinstall the app as I kept getting error messages when sending photos.

Handy And Effective

After using a number of food-monitoring apps, I was thrilled to finally find one that was so easy I actually stuck with it. Taking pics of my meals is so simple and quick, there is no excuse not to do it. I totally recommend it for anyone trying to diet sensibly.

Just what I was looking for

Ive been looking for a good food journal app for a while and this is exactly what Ive been looking for! Thx!

Obsessed!!

This is exactly what I was looking for! Super easy to use and it save me a trip to my drs office! WIN.

Awesome

Its easy to use and it does exactly what I want - I just want to know what I ate and at what time. Perfect. I love that I can just take a pic. So easy.

Exactly what I was looking for! Just missing a few things

I love this app! Very easy to use and snapping a picture is so convenient. The only things I wish were added is the ability to import pictures from your photo album and "favorites" or "history" so you dont have to write the same thing (sometimes eating healthy with a time constraint means eating the same thing allllllll the time). Please add!! Overall, fabulous job.

Happy-ish

The update just erased all my pics to date

Cant stand it

This app is useless. All I want to do us type in meals day to day.

Love this!

This app is amazing. So helpful to be able to log my meals.

Delete pictures

The app wont delete pics when I try to. They always stay there. Please fix

Fail

I updated the app and lost all my logs! Horrible app.

Thanks MealLogger!!!

Great app!! MealLogger allows us to build our own online nutrition community where all of our young student-athletes (and their families) can engage in an interactive experience. So much fun!!

Deleted all of my previous meals!

I like how this is a personal food journal as opposed to the other apps which post up your meals to the public. They just revamped the app, which is cool, but in this redesign, THEY WIPED OUT ALL OF THE MEALS I PRECIOUSLY HAD IN THE SYSTEM

Ughh

After updating this app I lost everything !!!!!!

The latest update is AWFUL!!!!!

Why cant I see my entries by day or week anymore? The single chronological feed is awful and not at all useful. Im going to be switching to another app.

Lost my diary

I lost all my past entries after the upgrade. A warning would have been nice. What was a simple app to do a food diary is now becoming like all the other bloated apps in the App Store. Forget the social and tracking other metrics. Stick to the core of being a food diary, not a nutrition app. Better layouts and views are needed for the journal. Thumbnails dont render. [update] crashes when I take photos now
